Home Workout Equipment for Mountain Bike Fitness

Sometimes there’s just not enough time to head to the gym. But that’s okay. With a home workout you can still increase your muscle endurance and stability for the trail with simple and minimal equipment.

Endurance

Endurance is critical in riding. When you’re riding uphill you need the endurance and energy to pedal all the way to the top. Likewise, when you’re heading downhill, you need the endurance and energy to hold a stable position all the way down the trail.

Stability

Stability is a different beast. Stability keeps your bike going in the right direction. As you're riding through technical terrain and heading off drops, sending jumps, or ripping through corners your stability is what keeps you up (or down in the bushes if you don’t have it).

So how do you maintain a stable position while riding? Stability comes from having strong muscle endurance which gives you the energy to maintain stability throughout your ride.

Home Workout Equipment for Endurance And Stability Training

You don’t need flashy or expensive equipment to workout from home. Let’s get to it and make your home endurance and stability training work for you.

First thing to get going is a pull-up bar. For what? Pull-ups. You can get a pull-up bar for cheap on Amazon or find one in your local classifieds. Check out the pull-up bar in the video. It’s from Iron Gym on Amazon.

Next are booty bands. You’ve got to work your glutes! Not only are your glutes going to look the way you've always dreamed of, but your stability and endurance will increase due to glutes being the center of everything you do in every active activity. Having strong glutes will help improve trail performance.

Next, get yourself  some dumbbells. Get a weight that works for you. You don’t need to lift a lot of weight, but you do need to be able to lift a small amount of weight for an extended period of time. The dumbbells we show in the video are 10 pounds, but get whatever weight works for you; 10, 15, 20, etc. pound weights.

Lastly, the exercise bands. Find some resistance bands with a weight/resistance that you can maintain for a longer period of time. You can find these on Amazon for a fairly inexpensive price.

Well, you’re all set! Now, when you can’t make it to the gym, you can boost your endurance and stability for the trail from home! Check out our full at home endurance and stability training program and elevate your ride.
