This post and video will show you a simple home workout that you can do with minimal equipment to increase your endurance and stability on the trail. Endurance because when you're going uphill you need the energy to pedal all the way to the top, and then you need the energy to peddle down.
The next important thing, as we mentioned, is stability. Stability is a different beast. Stability keeps you straight on your bike. As you're going through technical terrain, you're dropping off corners, and going over legends, your stability skill is what keeps you up (or down in the bushes if you don’t have it).
You still have to have that muscle endurance as well. We're going to cover and show you how to, how to tap into that. But you've got to be able to increase that stability. This workout, is going to show you how to do that.
First thing is pullups. You can get a pullup bar for cheap on Amazon or find one in your local classifieds. The one in the video is from Iron Gym on Amazon.
The next are booty bands. Not only are your glutes going to be looking the way you've always dreamed of, you’ll increase in stability and endurance because glutes are the center of everything you do in every active activity. Having strong glutes will also improve trail performance.
The next are just some dumbbells. These are 10 pounds, get 10, 15, or 20. You don’t need to lift a lot of weight, but you do need to be able to lift a little weight for a long time.
And of course we have exercise bands. Again, find some resistance bands on Amazon for cheap.
That should cover the equipment, now click here to see the full workout video!
